I have a small library of very selective watercolor books. Mostly selectively small because of the quality of the work I look for. I am very particular since I taught for the arts at a university for many years and am also a professional artist. So here goes!This is an excellent book on how to paint flowers, namely roses! And while the book focuses on roses, the approach and techniques are universal for painting other subjects. Trevor Waugh takes you through the process from start to finish on a number of step-by-step how-to's and also reveals different approaches, color schemes, and reveals many beautiful color combinations and pallet setups and brush techniques. I only included just the tip of the iceberg in a few photos. Every page has beautiful lush demonstrations and paintings.He is an excellent teacher and his book reveals what you need to know - and more. I was surprised at how easy it was to follow and yet it takes practice to build the skills up. He has easy projects in the book and then more complex lessons and also still life compositions.This book is Excellent for all levels of skill in watercolor. It's a must have for floral painters all the way around. However, I found it helpful for other subjects because the knowledge is there to apply to other things. See the photos. Sorry some are sideways. But I shot them in order to get two pages in at the same time.
