Jack Widow is never called Jack. A drifter with amazing warrior and investigative skills, he likes being foot-loose and fancy-free. He's out of the Navy, not fighting a war, but trouble seems to find him anyway.This storyline is complex and suspenseful. Widow is drawn into a situation that he is well-suited for, but he will be re-visiting a painful event from his past. A comparison to the Jack Reacher character from Author Lee Child's books is to be expected. There is plenty of room for both of them in the genre, and they are different personalities and exist in different times, events, and stresses. The idea of roaming the United States with little to no baggage, and being able to physically protect yourself, is very appealing. A man can barely do it in this day and age; a woman would be crazy to try it! It's not something most people would want to do, but it sure is fun to read about!I thoroughly enjoyed Author Scott Blade's "Once Quiet". The story stands alone well, and there is no cliffhanger. This is an engrossing and interesting read that makes me eager to read more of this Author's books.
