There may be a good story or characters in this book, but it needs significant editing and revision. There are multiple technical problems including, ironically, where the author wrote “typo” when she meant “type”. She also included a trademark symbol “TM” after a standard pronoun and used “cerulean”, a shade of blue, to describe a character that she had repeatedly mentioned had green eyes.In terms of story and character development, the inciting incident upon which the entire story is predicated, the rejection of the fmc, Delilah, by her “mate”, Kieran, happened when they were 14. I cannot fathom that two 14yo children would be interested in getting mated/married and consummating their relationship sexually in front of their parents and entire community. Given that the majority of the story happens years later, It didn’t make sense that the author felt it was fundamentally important to the story that the characters are 21 instead of 23 or 25 - which might have conveyed some level of maturity to the characters within the context of the story. Considering that people’s brains are continuing to develop through the age of 24 or 25, an RH story featuring people who should be juniors in college was not a great choice.The AU with the wolf pack, pack lands, witches, vampires, mating bonds, and a curse seemed more like the author was throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks than creating a cohesive world. I found it particularly skeevy that Delilah’s adoptive mother kept trying to force her into having sex with all of the men, obliquely threatening that if Delilah didn’t hurry and have sex with them all, that she would.
